Dugi Otok, an Island of Emotion and Beauty

7 days

Hiking, cycling and sea kayaking on the long island, with Telašćica, Sakarun and the cliffs of the seaward side.

The whole of Dugi Otok in a week, on foot, by bike and by kayak. Around 45 km of coast by e-bike, a walk from Žman into the Telašćica nature park, a day of sea kayaking, and the villages of Božava and Veli Rat. Views over the Zadar archipelago, the Velebit range and the open sea.

Day by day

  1. 01

    Arrival

Arrival and ferry crossing to Dugi Otok. We then settle into our selected hotel or private accommodation.

  2. 02

    Dugi Otok by bike

Today we get to know the finest places and the varied coast of Dugi Otok on a bike ride. On e-bikes we cover about 45 km.

Splendid views of the Velebit range and the neighbouring islands, and out to the open sea, will win us over with their beauty.

Dinner at the accommodation and overnight.

  3. 03

    Walking in Telašćica Nature Park

After breakfast we set off from Žman, a small fishing village on the eastern side of the island. Through olive groves and vineyards we walk to the southern side of the island and on into Telašćica Nature Park, about 20 km.

A generous lunch awaits us there, along with a fantastic view of the imposing cliffs on the island’s western coast.

In the afternoon we return to the accommodation and have dinner together.

  4. 04

    Sea kayaking

Today we explore the southern side of the island from the water. By kayak we paddle along the majestic cliffs and take in splendid views of the Kornati National Park.

On the way we picnic on a small island and have the chance to swim. Afterwards we paddle back to our accommodation.

No group dinner is arranged this evening, so that you have the chance to discover the island’s cooking on your own.

  5. 05

    Božava and Veli Rat

Today we again explore the southern side of the island from the water. By kayak we paddle along the striking cliffs and enjoy beautiful views of the Kornati National Park.

On the way we picnic on a small island and have time to swim. Afterwards we return to the accommodation.

This evening too there is no group dinner, so you can seek out the island’s specialities and its welcoming taverns yourself.

  6. 06

    The beauty of the sea

Today we take the kayaks once more into the hidden coves and inlets of the northern part of Dugi Otok, enjoying the clear water, the scents of the Mediterranean plant life and the birdsong.

Swimming in the clear sea we may even be joined by the cheerful dolphins that live in these waters.

In the evening a dinner together awaits us in a traditional local konoba with regional specialities.

  7. 07

Today it is time to say goodbye. Journey home.
