Ljubljana, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Mostar, Dubrovnik, Kotor and Split, returning through Istria.

Five countries in eleven days, from Ljubljana and Zagreb through Sarajevo and Mostar to Dubrovnik and Kotor, returning up the Dalmatian coast and through Istria. Built for groups who want the region rather than one country.

Day by day

  1. 01

    Home– Ljubljana

    Travel via Villach to Ljubljana. On the way we make a short stop in Bled.

    Afterwards we continue to Ljubljana and check in at the hotel for an overnight stop. Dinner at the hotel.

  2. 02

    Ljubljana – Zagreb

    In the morning, city tour of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.

    Ljubljana surprises with baroque palaces, picturesque squares and a charming historic old town. On a guided walk through the city centre we discover the most important sights and are enchanted by the special flair of the Slovenian capital.

    During the afternoon, a short drive on to Zagreb.

    On a guided walk through the lively Croatian capital we discover the historic quarters. The narrow lanes and stairways of the Upper Town with its splendid palaces and the historic facades of the Lower Town give Zagreb its special charm.

    In the evening, dinner in a traditional restaurant within walking distance.

    Zagreb – Banja Luka – Jajce – Sarajevo

    Today we drive via Banja Luka and Jajce to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

    Sarajevo is a city with an eventful and changeable history. Over the centuries different cultures and religions have left their mark here. Churches, mosques and historic buildings bear witness to this remarkable cultural diversity.

    A stroll through the oriental bazaar takes us into another world. Here there is the chance to discover traditional copper souvenirs or to enjoy an oriental coffee, entirely in the old Ottoman tradition.

    Dinner at the hotel.

    Sarajevo

    Today we devote ourselves at length to Sarajevo.

    The city fascinates with its extraordinary cultural mix and its eventful history. On a walking tour we discover the historic quarters with their mosques, churches and characteristic buildings.

    A stroll through the bazaar conveys an oriental atmosphere. There is time here to buy traditional copper souvenirs or to enjoy a typical Bosnian coffee in the Ottoman tradition.

    The evening is at leisure.

    No dinner at the hotel today. There is the option of dining in a traditional Bosnian restaurant.

    Sarajevo – Mostar – Dubrovnik

    Today we travel to the west of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

    On the way we make a short stop in Mostar. The landmark of the town is the famous “Old Bridge”, Stari Most. Destroyed in the war, the bridge was rebuilt and is today regarded as a symbol of the peaceful coexistence of different peoples and cultures.

    Afterwards we continue our journey through the beautiful Neretva valley towards Dubrovnik.

    In the afternoon we reach Dubrovnik, the famous “Pearl of the Adriatic”. On a city tour we discover the historic old town with its impressive buildings and picturesque lanes.

    Check in at the hotel and dinner.

  6. 06

    Montenegro – Kotor – Cetinje

    Today takes us to Montenegro and holds plenty of interesting impressions in store.

    We drive along the shore of the Bay of Kotor to Kotor. The town lies on the imposing Bay of Kotor and has one of the most attractive historic old towns on the eastern Adriatic coast.

    Kotor is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. On our visit we discover the old town, enclosed by a picturesque town wall of Venetian character, the historic market and the Cathedral of St Tryphon.

    Afterwards we continue to Cetinje, the former royal capital of Montenegro.

    In the late afternoon we return to our hotel. Dinner at the hotel.

  7. 07

    Split – Trogir – Vodice

    Today we travel along the sun drenched Dalmatian coast and partly through the charming hinterland to Split.

    A highlight of the day is the visit to the famous Diocletian’s Palace. The exceptionally well preserved Roman palace forms the historic heart of Split and, together with the old town, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

    After the city tour we continue to Trogir. Its historic old town with its exceptional architecture is likewise part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

    Afterwards we drive on along the coast, past Primošten, to Vodice.

    Check in at the hotel and dinner.

  8. 08

    Free day or Kornati National Park – optional

    Today is a day at leisure.

    Alternatively there is the option to join an optional boat excursion into Kornati National Park. The excursion depends on the weather.

    We sail through the unique island world of the Kornati and our expert guide shares interesting information about this fascinating natural phenomenon. Lunch and drinks on board are included.

    In the late afternoon we return to the hotel.

    No dinner at the hotel today.

  9. 09

    Zadar – Opatija

    After breakfast we drive to Zadar.

    On a pleasant walk we get to know the more than 3,000 year history of this fascinating port city.

    The historic old town, the fish market, the waterfront promenade, the Church of St Donatus and the famous Sea Organ invite us to explore and to linger. In the afternoon we continue to Opatija for our last overnight stop. Check in and dinner at the hotel.

    Istria – Pula – Rovinj – Poreč – Portorož

    After breakfast we drive along the Istrian coast towards Portorož, where we spend our final night of this tour.

    On the way, depending on the timing, we visit Pula as well as Rovinj and/or Poreč.

    Pula impresses with its famous Roman amphitheatre, while Rovinj delights with its picturesque old town and Poreč with the Euphrasian Basilica, part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

    Afterwards we continue to Portorož.

    Check in at the hotel and dinner.

    Homeward journey

    After breakfast we set off on the journey home.

    With many fine memories and impressions of Croatia and its fascinating neighbouring countries, a varied tour comes to an end.
